Postinflammatory pulmonary fibrosis

Post-inflammatory pulmonary fibrosis is just a term used to describe non specific pulmonary fibrosis. Pulmonary fibrosis occurs typically after inflammation in the lungs, this inflammation causes the production of stiff fibrous tissue, hence the term ‘Pulmonary Fibrosis’. The term “post-inflammatory” does not add anything new to the definition of Pulmonary Fibrosis. Pulmonary Fibrosis is, by definition, a process which occurs after inflammation! Therefore “post-inflammatory” does not mean a special type of pulmonary fibrosis or require any additional special treatment (for more information see our page: Treatment of Pulmonary Fibrosis)
